Happy Halloween!
This year we celebrated Halloween with Max from Where The Wild Things Are and a little monkey. We did not get many pictures but we had a fun night. Max actually took off his wolf suit half way through the night and put on a firefighter costume. This way he was able to hit the neighbors again for more candy.

Wes is 1!
Can you believe it? This little cutie is one! Looking back on his first year seems like a blur but he has grown and changed so much since we brought him home from the hospital. He had his one year check-up at the doctor yesterday and he is 2'6" and 21.7 pounds. Right smack dab in the middle of the pack at 50% for both height and weight. He also had to get 5 shots. Poor little guy handled it with only a few tears and no complications. I on the other hand needed some ibuprofen for the headache they caused me.
Other Wesley Hugo stats/facts are as follows:
Almost walking; he will take 4-6 steps at a time before falling over
Points to lamps and lights and says: da ta (for lampa)
Waves bye bye to cars and sometimes people
LOVES his brother Max and laughs whenever he laughs
Is no longer nursing and is almost sleeping through the night
Loves food of all kinds but especially cheese and fishy crackers
Makes an engine noise when playing with cars (so cute)
Loves music and is a super good dancer

Wesley's first birthday party
We had Wes' first birthday party in our cul-de-sac. We love our neighbors and they have been a big part of Wesley's first year of life. We provided beer and cake and many of them showed up (I am sure it was the beer that brought them out of their houses).
Wes had a wonderful time.
We are singing happy birthday to him. Hence, the confused look.
Wes liked his cake but didn't make a huge mess. He had a few bites and then he started throwing it on the ground. It is a good thing we were outside.
Such a helpful big brother
Max really wants to help Wes. Here he is looking helpful but we all know how this really turned out...

Wes is 11 months!
At 11 months Wes just doesn't seem like a baby anymore. He is still very laid back but is not afraid to make some noise to get us to notice him. Some of his favorite activities are to open and close drawers and cupboards and to completely destroy the trains and train tracks on Max's train table. This makes Max so mad. Wes has also recently started to defend himself from his big brother. If big brother comes over to him and puts his head or body too close it is possible that Wes will push, bite or scratch at Max. It is kind of a relief for me to see this because Wes has taken a lot of abuse over the past few months.
This month Wes is nearly finished with nursing. He got a really bad cold and was having trouble nursing so we just kind of went with it and now I only nurse him at night. It makes it easy that Wes likes to eat solid food. I have no idea where he puts all of the food he eats sometimes. Wes is still very easy to put to bed but he has only slept all night (meaning 10-12 hours) once. He usually wakes up anywhere from 2-4am and needs a little attention. I really don't mind this so much. I feel that he will sleep better eventually.
Wes is loved by everyone and I think he is going to grow up to be a very special little guy. Bring on the toddler!

Max the swimmer
Max is an amazing swimmer. He loves swimming! He jumps in and swims to the stairs and does it all over again. It is pretty amazing actually.
