Self Portraits

We take a lot of self portraits when we go on trips. Even though the weather, the backround, our clothing, etc. might be different, the look on R-Dawg's face is always the same. :)

It got pretty cold at night. Naturally, I fell asleep cold and then I woke up sweating so I took my socks off in the middle of the night only to wake up freezing again.

Breakfast consisted of some dehydrated Goulash soup with leftover hot dogs from the night before! mmmm

Road Trip 2007

Starting on October 13th, the mister and I embarked on our first road trip as a married couple. We started in Hood River, OR and ended up in Moab, UT. We were gone for 9 days and nights. We had a great time golfing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, eating and listening to books on tape (thanks Sara). We took about 200 pictures on our trip and we intend to share many of them with you. I'll be making several posts over the next few days. Hold on tight! The adventure is about to begin!

The Food Network doesn't want me...YET!

I know that you have been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for me to tell you that they liked my video. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I listened for my cell phone to ring day and night but the only phone call I received on a regular basis was from the University of Puget Sound's fundraising department (I wonder how many times they will call before they give up). Anyway, just because they didn't like my video this time doesn't mean they won't like it the next time or the time after that. Let me know if you hear of any other food related contests that I can enter in the future because I will not be giving up anytime soon!!!

Crazy Buffalo Chicken Enchiladas

So, I mailed in my entry form and video for a Food Network cooking contest today. It was called "So You Think You Can Cook" and it was put on by Rachel Ray. On Monday night I made a video of myself (by myself) cooking and talking about why I think they should pick me as one of the finalists. I had to show them and tell them why I think I am the "best cook in the kitchen." I wasn't really sure how to convince them that I am the best cook but I ended up with a totally retarded 12 minute video of myself talking about how I used to make really good grilled cheese sandwiches in college and how the Mexican food in California is "awesome." I don't know what I was thinking but I sent it in anyway. Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of the video so you will not get to see it unless I become one of the finalist and they show my video on the Food Network (NOT!). If I win, I will be wisked away to New York for a 5 day food challenge of some sort, then if you win the challenge you get to co-host one of of Rachel's shows and you get an original recipe published in her magazine. The recipe that I submitted was for Crazy Buffalo Chicken Enchiladas. Essentially, it is enchiladas that have buffalo wing sauce on them instead of enchilada sauce. Sounds good doesn't it? I took a picture of the finished product and put in the envelope along with my video. mmmm

My Brother the Internet Ordained Pastor

On August 25th my brother married his good friends in a private Japanese tea garden in Forest Grove, OR. It was a beautiful evening and he did such a good job. I know this is random but it is in fact a true story. I was there...check out the pictures. Yes, he is wearing converse all stars with his suit.

2 Years!

We have officially been married for two years! We spent our anniversary (8/20) at Timberline Lodge where we were married two years previous. The weather this year was miserable; it was cold and rainy. Fortunately we were happy to spend our time inside at the bar, the restaurant and at the ping pong table. We had a wonderful time and we have really enjoyed our first two years as a married couple.

Fire in Hood River

A fire started this weekend in a field near our house. Our entire neighborhood was evacuated. The 30 foot flames were put out only about 100 feet from our place. A situation like this really makes you appreciate the things you have. We thanked the fire department the next day by delivering a cold case of beer to the local station.

Deep Lake 2007

We made a trip to Deep Lake to hang out with some of my college friends in July. We didn't get many pictures of the event before the battery in our camera died but we did manage to get a great picture of Sarah and Jack taking a nap together. It's pretty cute...

We've got a good life!

Welcome to our Blog

Our friends have encouraged us to start our own blog since we have friends and family all over the world. We hope to make several postings throughout the year so you guys can find out what we have been up to. We have been to Palm Springs twice this year and R-dawg has been windsurfing a bit in the Gorge. The summer has only just begun!
