Hanging out with Grampa
Grampa let Max take off his hat and glasses.
Grampa let Max drive the golf cart.
Grampa even let Max have a snack on the blanket. These two had fun together.
Eating outside
Max had so much fun eating outside. In between dropping blueberries in his lap, he would point at birds and golf carts driving by. Why can't we have more sun in Portland and why don't we live on a golf course?
If he wasn't interested in eating, at least he had a good view.
ahhhh
Max tending the pin
One night Rudy and I came home from playing golf and we found Max and my parents hanging out on the green right in front of their house. It was so cute to see the pint size guy holding onto the flag stick, shaking it and giggling like it was the best thing he got to do all day. We made it a nightly ritual since he liked it so much.
Joshua Tree National Park
We saw lots of big brown rocks at the National Park. Rudy thought the rocks looked like petrified dinosaur poops.
Classic family photo. Rudy is smiling!
Max took a nap in the backpack. It must be comfy in that thing. He fell asleep within 5 minute of being in there.
Mountain Man and his boy.
Lots and lots of sunshine and swimming
Here is a picture of Max and I getting ready for his swim. He was so excited!
I just got finished telling him that I was going to dunk his head under the water.
The temperature outside was about 80 degrees and the water felt so nice. We went swimming almost every day.

Max is 10 Months!
We are celebrating Max's 10 month birthday in Palm Springs with my parents. Max is doing well despite a little bit of pain as a result of teething. To get here, Max went on his first airplane. He did okay on the airplane. He slept a little but he mostly squirmed, grabbed and pinched everything, including me and Rudy. Max has had a multitude of firsts since he arrived in Palm Springs, including:
he saw his first sunrise (walking on the golf course with my dad)
he walked his first fairway and stood on his first green
he rode in a golf cart
he went to Joshua Tree National Park
he ate his first strawberry
he ate almost every meal outside
he ate his first beef (Rudy convinced me to give him some brisket)
he clapped when you asked him to clap
he stood up on the couch by himself
he swam in an outside pool
he let me dunk his head under the water in the pool
he wore his first sunscreen
he pointed at birds, golf carts, airplanes, the sun and trees
(called them all lampas)
and much, much more...
In general Max is a very curious little guy who loves to explore and see new things. He tinkers with things with buttons and jabbers to us constantly. Last night we sat around the table and all gave our guess as to what he is going to be like when he gets older. Nobody knows but I think he is going to be just like his dad.
When we get home, we will post some pictures from our trip.

Pointing
I point at mama
I point at the camera
I point at the birds in the trees.
I like to point at things that I recognize.

Our little Gap model
I know, I know, we should be entering this kid in cute baby contests and having him model for childrens clothing catalogs but in the meantime please enjoy some pictures from our own private photo shoot. How handsome does he look in this hat? And how cute is that butt? Ladies, take a number!
Chicken Marsala
Rudy got a bee in his bonnet the other night and insisted on making chicken marsala for dinner (he has never made it before). He went to the store and bought all of the necessary ingredients and slaved away in the kitchen with impeccable concentration. The dinner turned out delicious. Here is a picture of the proud chef and his wonderful meal.

A day in the life of Max...
Max does a lot of hanging out. Sometimes we go to the park, sometimes we have friends over to our house. Here are some pictures of Max just hanging out and looking cool as usual.
Here is Max at home being a gracious host and just watching the other kids play with his toys. The toys that dad brought home from Slovakia are always a big hit.
