Winter entertainment

It's been cold this winter but in Oregon you can pretty much golf any time of the year. The other day, the three of us put on our winter golf gloves and our wool ski socks and braved the golf course. It turned out to be a beautiful, clear day and we could see snow capped mountains in every direction. Sometimes there is nothing better than a cold, crisp winter day.

When we are not out skiing/snowboarding or golfing in the winter, we spend a lot of time following the Portland Trailblazers. R-dawg is really into them this year (he is kind of obsessed with them actually). Here he is watching the Blazers play Utah. They had been on a 12 game winning streak and they were losing to Utah. He is sitting on the couch by himself watching the game biting his fingernails. They ended up losing that night and breaking the streak but he is still a devout follower.

Christmas in Alta 2007

This year we spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my parents in Portland but then on Christmas evening we jetted away to Utah to spend six days with R-dawg's parents. My inlaws spent every day of their 2 week vacation on the mountain. They would catch the first chair up and they would stay out there until they closed the mountain for the day. My mother in law skied 13 days in a row. She is incredible! I only managed to last 4 days in a row before I puttered out. The conditions on the mountain were chilling. It was 10 below at one point. I wore everything that I brought with me on the mountain but that didn't stop my fingers and toes from freezing. All in all, we had a great time being with family around the holidays. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Super cool picture

Does anyone else think this is a great picture? The mister took it in Boise when we were on our road trip. I'd like to turn it in somewhere to see if anyone will publish it. The little specs in the background in the sky are hot air balloons.

Enjoying the snow in Hood River

Before the mountain even opened for skiing, we got a bunch of snow in Hood River. We took my brother's dog for a walk on a local mountain biking trail. All of the limbs on the trees were covered in snow. Now I remember why I love the winter so much. We hope you enjoy the pictures!
